CEPLIS 2025 Elections and General Assembly Meeting
Our first General Assembly of the year was held with success on the 2nd of July in Bucharest, kindly hosted by our member, the Union of Liberal Professions of Romania (UPLR). It was a great occasion to network with professionals of different Member States and disciplines, to discuss the latest evolutions of EU policies related to our sector and to elect a new President and Executive Board to lead CEPLIS through the next three years.
The night before the meeting, representatives of member organisations enjoyed traditional Romanian hospitality and cuisine, generously offered by the Romanian colleagues, in a lovely restaurant in the city centre.
The General Assembly met in the premises of the Romanian Chamber of Tax Advisors and, at the end of the discussion of the different points of the Agenda, elected Mr. Klaus Thürriedl, Secretary-General of European Council of Engineers Chambers (ECEC), as President of CEPLIS for the 2025–2028 term.
The unanimous election of the President was followed by that of the members of the Executive Board for the same term. The new Board is composed of:
- Dr. Tomas Cobo – Union Profesional (UP) – Spain
- Mr. Marco Natali – Confprofessioni – Italy
- Mr. Jean-Yves Pirlot – Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE)
- Mr. Michael Van Gompen – Union Nationale des Professions Libérales et Intellectuelles de Belgique (UNPLIB) – Belgium
- Mr. Roy Spitz – Union Nationale des Professions Libérales (UNAPL) – France
- Mrs. Norma Camilleri – Malta Federation of Professional Associations (MFPA)
- Mr. Jean-Philippe Brochet – European Union of Pharmacist Specialists in Laboratory Medicine and Genetics (EUPLMG)
- Mr. James Lonergan – Irish Interprofessional Association (IIPA)
- Mr. Mario Gazic – European Nursing Council (ENC)
- Mr. Giovanni Esposito – Rete delle Professioni Tecniche – Italy
At the proposal of President Thürriedl, Mr. Gaetano Stella, the outgoing President, was unanimously elected President of Honour in recognition of his successful six-year service as Chair of CEPLIS.
Before the friendly lunch kindly organised by the hosts, the members of the new Board who were present had a short meeting during which, at the proposal of the President,
- Dr. Tomas Cobo was elected as First Vice-President, Messrs. Michael Van Gompen, Roy Spitz, Jean-Yves Pirlot, Jean-Philippe Brochet, and Marco Natali, as Vice-Presidents, whilst Mr. Mario Gazic was re-electedas Treasurer.
President Klaus Thürriedl and all the members of the Board have shared their enthusiasm to work together to strengthen the voice of our category, which is a major contributor to the well-being of citizens and the growth of the Union, and to bring forward our vision in a period of great importance for the future of Europe and its institutions.
