As many of you remember, last November, our General Assembly adopted a list of key priorities for the three years mandate of Mr. Stella’s presidency. These priorities are in line with the Commission’s plans for the future and aim at guiding us in the development of positions and proposals ensuring that expectations of the liberal professions on all aspects of EU policies concerning them are taken into consideration.
In this context, a Working Group on Digitalisation in the field of our professions was set up in order to involve as many as possible of our members in the drafting of a position to be shared with the EU decision-makers in the light of the two recent publications (19th of February) of the European Commission: “A European strategy for data” and “On Artificial Intelligence: a European approach to excellence and trust”. This Group, was chaired by our French colleague, Mr. Serge Garrigou from our French inter-professional member, the UNAPL.
Despite the COVID-19 crisis and the confinement, the Working Group in question, has managed to analyse the Commission’s program and to produce a document expressing our views and including a number of expectations and proposals regarding all the aspects of this program.
The draft position paper was approved by the Executive Board and shared with all the EU decision makers especially concerned by the digitalisation issue, notably the Executive Vice-president of the European Commission, Margrethe Vestager responsible for setting the strategic direction of the political priority “Europe Fit for the Digital Age” and the MEPs members of the Inter-group Artificial Intelligence and Digital within the EP. May we remind here, that EP Inter-groups can be formed by MEPs from any political group and any committee, with a view to holding informal exchanges of views on particular subjects and promoting contact between MEPs and civil society.
We would like to thank very much indeed the President, Mr. Garrigou and the members of our “Digitalisation” Working Group for their efficient and fruitful work. We would be very grateful for your support with promoting this position with your own members and stakeholders.
You may find the above mentioned position here.
