SD4EU Final Conference : Social Dialogue and Gender Equality in the World of Work

The 26th of March, the final conference for the Social Dialogue for a Union of Equality project (SD4EU) was held in the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee in Brussels.

The objective of the project in question, in which CEPLIS has participated under the efficient leadership of our member Confprofessioni, was to embed gender mainstreaming into social dialogue processes, moving beyond legal compliance toward a continuous, collaborative approach.

CEPLIS’s contribution to this final conference was given through a speech of our Director General Pr. Dr Theodoros Koutroubas, who pointed out that social partners must go beyond strictly legislation-oriented approaches – or a merely tick-box compliance – to drive sustainable reductions in gender inequality across labour markets.

The conference begun with a video message of the President of the European Parliament Ms Roberta Metsola, whilst speakers included Mr Martin Böhme, spokesperson of the Liberal Professions Category of the EESC, and Mr Joël Le Deroff, Policy officer in the D-3 Unit on Social Dialogue at the European Commission’s DG Employment, who concluded the event with a very interesting report on the Commission’s work for gender equality and inclusion.

The work initiated by SD4EU should continue through new projects with a similar objective.
