The Liberal Professions together for vaccination against COVID-19

Brussels, the 21st of June 2021 – The European Council of the Liberal Professions (CEPLIS) has launched a Video Campaign in order to encourage European citizens to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The ongoing vaccination of the general population in Europe which will greatly help our societies to return to normal life after more than a year of pandemic, is still not touching a part of our fellow citizens. Some are in fact still reluctant or even afraid to get vaccinated, because of the unduly confusion created around the very rare counter effects of some vaccines, or because of unfounded theories and fake news, that can unfortunately be found all over the internet. Obviously, the questions and concerns of these citizens are legitimate and understandable. For them to be correctly addressed, it is essential that scientific truth prevails over rumors and inaccurate information, as it is essential that we protect ourselves and each other from the potentially severe consequences of the virus by getting vaccinated.

We feel that our professions, who are the natural intermediaries between the citizens and the authorities and who enjoy a certain credibility within local communities because of their high level of studies and experience, should actively contribute to the boosting of the current anti COVID-19 vaccination campaign both at the national and at the European levels.

In the light of the above, CEPLIS’ member organisations decided to launch a vaccination campaign by means of short videos messages in which elected representatives of national inter-professional bodies or of specific professions at the EU level, convey a concise message to their fellow citizens, their clients, and patients.
